The whole world has a watchful eye on ‘Eastern European Soil’, since Russia waged an official war against Ukraine. A Russian invasion with armed attack has hit Ukraine hard. unprecedented destruction of its cities, a number of heavy causalities, the biggest European refuge crisis, and the whole world economy wobbled.

The liabilities of the Russia-Ukraine war have burdened the Ukrainian people. It is so heavy that many international organizations for humanitarian causes are actually finding it difficult to assist them, even in creating humanitarian corridors.

Large number of causalities reported :-

UNHR has recorded 2,685 Ukrainian civilian casualties. 1035 Out of which were killed including 90 children Over the initial one-month period ; 1,650 injured, including 118 children, mostly caused by shelling & airstrikes by Russian armed forces. However, this is the recorded figure and the actual figure may be much higher.

Around 2.2 million civilians have already fled the country within one month. Millions are people are looking for asylum in neighboring countries. Many cities in Ukraine are under attack, including Kyiv, Sumy, Kharkiv, Vilcha, Chuhun, Milove and many more, including the latest Mariupol. The vast destruction of city infrastructures has also left nothing for civilians to rebuild their life upon.

Need of Safe Humanitarian Passage :-

Organizations like The Red Cross, UNHR, Doctors without Borders, are now short of supplies and aid. Assisting people in getting asylum in the neighboring countries like Poland, Belarus, Hungary has also been difficult for them.

Meanwhile, western neighboring countries are facing troublesome situations while granting them asylum, with overburdened population, economic aid shortage, massive demographic transformation and threat of Russian invasion there as well. Ukraine, on the other hand, has decided to stay back and fight for its freedom.

Russian airstrikes are taking over many Ukrainian cities. With this Civilians are forced to take shelter under severe conditions with shortages of fuel, water, cash, food and even first aid supplies. They find fleeing as their only option left to be alive. UNGA has called for ‘Special Emergency Sessions’. But nothing tangible is seem to be formulated soon. The UN has called this war ‘apocalyptic’.

This apart, on one side, Ukraine wants to encourage its people to successful resistance against Russia, while Russia is busy convincing its people about war gains. Both parties have their own set of blemish narratives against each other, propagated by their media.

Instant need of the time :-

The humanitarian corridor is the need of the time. Many more civilians are expecting Ukrainian authorities to help them in their resettlement out of the war zones. Women and children are paying the greatest price at the cost of their lives and livelihood. The number of displaced Ukrainian children is around 4.3 million. Apart from this, 1.8 million children are refugees and over 2.5 million in temporary shelter, as per UNICEF.

Another important threat is of international human traffic syndicates. Now they are more actively engaged into it. Women and children are in a grave danger of being victims of human trafficking and being sold out. Taking out all the remaining civilians who seek asylum. And granting them resettlement on foreign soil is going to be the biggest struggle for the whole of the world.

Ceasefire efforts all seem to be going into vain as Russia is intensifying its attacks with every hour passed. Earlier, six humanitarian corridors had been underway. This was to let the civilians escape timely. But soon this temporary ceasefire was scrapped.
